The Frank H Netter MD School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University and IAA are offering a one-year Fellowship in Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Management.
Our program is designed to provide the trainees with the expertise to effectively select and implement various regional and opioid-sparing options for enhanced recovery, facilitate OR flow, and improve perioperative management.
IAA Fellows will be given the opportunity to perform as many blocks as possible to achieve procedural expertise by completion of their training.
We do not provide any training with nerve stimulation.
Upon completion of the program, fellows will be technical experts who are ready for a position in a fast-paced clinical practice with rapid turnovers. They will possess a deep knowledge of, and expertise in, the building blocks of a successful acute pain/regional anesthesia program, and they will have a full understanding of the billing aspects of regional anesthesia, as well.
Our faculty consists of a dedicated group of nationally recognized educators and fellowship-trained experts who come from a wide range of training programs. These locations include the Bone and Joint Institute, Duke, Hospital for Special Surgery, Johns Hopkins and Yale.
This diversity has allowed us to develop best practices based on clinical experiences from top programs around the country and provide you with a unique professional opportunity and Fellowship experience.
During training, IAA Fellows will learn:
The position is 50% fellowship and 50% faculty. Fellows will be expected to complete at least one academic project and submit it to a national meeting for presentation. No call or weekends are required, but there are opportunities for extra work for additional compensation.
Our two primary hospitals, St. Vincent’s Medical Center and MidState Medical Center, are home to the Connecticut Orthopedic Institute, a regional leader in joint replacement and spine surgery.
IAA provides anesthesia services for the Connecticut Orthopaedic Institute at St. Vincent’s Medical Center (COI South) and the Connecticut Orthopaedic Institute at MidState (COI North).
Our IAA team works to ensure patient’s safety during the administration of anesthesia during surgery and in the recovery room, and follow-up on postoperative care for any anesthesia-related issues.
Outside of the orthopedic service line, we perform over 3,000 truncal and chest wall blocks in our hospitals per year.
Our secondary sites are private ambulatory surgery centers which focus on speed and efficiency.
