Research Opportunities – Hartford Division

Leading Investigations

Researchers with IAA’s Hartford Division lead investigations through collaboration to advanced clinical trials that have a direct impact on patient care, such as reducing the need for perioperative opioids, improving the management of acute post-surgical pain and perioperative anxiety.

Based on the nature of the anesthesiology specialty, our research department engages in collaborative research work with numerous surgical departments like Cardiac, Colorectal, Trauma and Orthopedic surgical subspecialties.

Providing Ongoing Support

IAA provides ongoing support every step of the way. Our department includes the Anesthesia Clinical Research Office (ACRO) and provides research support to all IAA investigators. These investigators include anesthesiologists, regional anesthesia and cardiac anesthesia fellows, and anesthesiology residents.

IAA’s research staff are always available to assist with grant applications, the selection of the investigator-initiated research study design, all IRB and regulatory submissions, the creation of research databases, the creation of data collection tools and the data collection and entry. We facilitate the successful conduct of funded and investigator-initiated clinical trials and help with medical writing for presentations and publications.

Advancing Anesthesia Research

Together, we’ll advance anesthesia and research knowledge. The Department of Anesthesia Research and Development’s strategy is to build an interdisciplinary research team of recognized investigators, scientists, and medical writers who work together to produce new knowledge and develop the next generation of physician-scientists in Anesthesiology.

IAA welcomes anyone interested in expanding their anesthesia research skills and knowledge to join our team. Working with IAA’s Hartford Division Research Team, you’ll have an opportunity to help with our many ongoing projects, or, create a project of your own!
